6 Day Fossil & Mineral Tour from Ouarzazate Itinerary :

Day 1Ouarzazate → Agdz → Alnif

We start from Ouarzazate and drive through the beautiful Draa Valley, passing Agdz and Tazzarine. Along the way, we stop at a large Orthoceras fossil site and visit the prehistoric rock carvings at Ait Ouzik, which feature animal and human figures. By evening, we arrive in Alnif, the famous fossil town, for dinner and overnight.

Day 2Alnif → Djbel Issimour → Tafraoute Sidi Ali

After breakfast, we head to Djbel Issimour, also known as the mountain of trilobites. This area is world-famous for Phacops trilobites. We visit two fossil sites where you can explore and collect samples. In the evening,trive to Tafraoute Sidi Ali for dinner and overnight at a comfortable local hotel.

Day 3Sidi Ali Fossil Hunt → Ouzina

We drive toward the remote desert village of Ouzina near the Algerian border. Here, trilobites are commonly found in ancient sediment layers. You will learn local fossil-hunting techniques and search for your own specimens. If time allows, we may also visit an additional Jurassic fossil site. Dinner and overnight at a charming desert lodge.

Day 4Ouzina → Kem Kem Beds → Filon 12 Mine → Merzouga

We’ll spend the day fossil hunting near the Algerian border, where trilobites are commonly found in ancient sediment layers. You’ll learn local techniques for fossil discovery and have hands-on time to collect samples. If time allows, we may also explore an additional Jurassic fossil site. Accommodation and meals will be at a charming desert lodge.

Day 5Merzouga Fossil Sites & Erg Chebbi Dunes

After breakfast, we explore fossil sites around Merzouga, where you can find marine fossils and desert specimens in their natural layers. We spend the day searching in the ancient seas that once covered this region. In the afternoon, we ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset, followed by dinner and overnight in a desert camp.

Day 6Merzouga → Erfoud → Dades Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and travel west through Erfoud, passing the dramatic Todra Gorge and the beautiful Dades Valley. We continue through the Valley of Roses and the palm groves of Skoura before arriving in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon, marking the end of the tour.
