Day 1Marrakesh → Ait Ben Haddou

We begin our journey towards the south, traveling through the stunning Atlas Mountains. Our first geological stop is in Sidi Rahal, known for quartz, chalcedonies, amethyst, and agate. later continuing to the historic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah. Overnight stay in a hotel in Ait Ben Haddou.

Day 2Ait Ben Haddou → Draa Valley → Alnif

After breakfast, depart toward the Anti-Atlas Mountains, driving through striking landscapes and remote villages. Along the way, stop to visit an impressive stromatolite site, offering a glimpse into some of the earliest life on Earth. Continue the journey into the lush Draa Valley, following its palm-lined oasis and traditional settlements. In the late afternoon, arrive in Alnif, where you check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3Alnif Fossil Sites

Today we explore the Cambrian fossil beds near Alnif, known for large yellow trilobites. You’ll enjoy a picnic in an oasis and continue to the Ordovician site at Jbel Tiskaouine, where calymenes and flexycalymenes trilobites can be found. Return to Alnif for a second night.

Day 4Alnif → Mharch

Leave for Isoumour, a remarkable site full of Devonian trilobites. You’ll also visit the Atchana site and later explore Lakrabis to collect red ammonites. Spend the evening in Mharch, a serene desert location known for its peaceful atmosphere and unique landscapes.

Day 5Mharch → Merzouga

Begin the day with a drive to Jbel Mdawar to find Devonian goniatites. After a picnic on-site, continue your journey to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga. You’ll stay in a cozy, local hotel and enjoy traditional hospitality.

Day 6Merzouga → Taouz → Merzouga

After breakfast, drive to Taouz to visit the famous Kem Kem site, rich in crocodile, fish, and dinosaur bones. You’ll explore the area and enjoy a picnic at the old Filon 12 mine, known for vanadinites and quartz. Return to Merzouga in the evening.

Day 7 Merzouga → Azourz → Merzouga

Head to the Azourz site to collect black pyritized goniatites and explore the Tisket site for trilobites. After a picnic in a sacred oasis, visit a working barite mine and collect gypsum sand flowers and fossils. Return to your hotel in Merzouga for a restful evening.

Day 8Merzouga → Erfoud

Today, visit the Hamarlaghdad Devonian formation to collect trilobites, corals, and brachiopods. Continue to Jbel Boutchrafine for more trilobite hunting and then visit a crinoid extraction site. In Erfoud, explore the local factories where fossils are turned into polished decorative items. Overnight in Erfoud.

Day 9Erfoud → Midelt

Depart from Erfoud and cross the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at the scenic Ziz Gorges. In the afternoon, visit a local selenite crystal factory. Spend the night at the Meteorite Hotel in Midelt.

Day 10Midelt Mineral Sites

Today, visit Mibladen, known for barite, cerussite, and vanadinite. Explore the old mine village of Ahouli and enjoy a picnic there. Later, visit Sidi Ayad to collect azurite and malachite. Return to Midelt for another night at your hotel.

Day 11Midelt → Ouzoud

Travel west through the Moyen Atlas Mountains. Enjoy photo stops in the forest, and visit a phosphate-rich region known for rare fish fossils, mosasaur bones, and shark teeth. End the day at the beautiful Ouzoud Waterfalls. Overnight in Ouzoud.

Day 12Ouzoud → Azilal → Marrakesh

On your final day, drive back to Marrakesh with stops at Azilal’s dinosaur footprints and the natural bridge in Demnate. Visit the famous Ouzoud Falls in the morning before continuing to Marrakech for your departure or extended stay.
